Lead Programmer

Pandemic Studios Australia is looking for a Lead Programmer for our next game. We plan on outdoing our UK and US chart topper Destroy All Humans! - and you can be a part of the programming team.

Our ideal candidate is a seasoned games programmer with management experience and a penchant for nurturing and mentoring a team of programmers. You must relish your team operating at peak performance and producing the highest quality product.

A background in project management and software engineering would be a plus.

Skills Required:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science
  • At least 5 years of industry experience
  • At least 1 completed game title as Lead Programmer
  • Excellent C++ skills

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Producer to create and maintain schedule
  • Work with programming staff and Technical Director to ensure code is completed on time and of high quality
  • Conduct performance reviews and assist with career development
  • Provide guidance to programmers

Programmer

Our ideal candidate is an experienced programmer with a desire to contribute to the design and implement code that will create an unforgettable experience for all who play our games. You must have prior experience implementing and polishing character controls, camera, combat, weapons, or NPC actors. If you live to create code that will entertain millions of people then we want to talk to you.

Skills Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science
  • At least 3 years of industry experience

Junior Programmer

Our ideal candidate is a programmer with no industry experience but with plenty of programming ability and discipline. You must enjoy writing clean, well-structured and efficient code, and be constantly poring over books and articles to improve your skills and broaden your knowledge. If you are the type of student who knows more about programming than your instructors, then we want to talk to you.

Mandatory Attributes

  • High level of artistic ability
  • Strong sense of colour and design

Multiple project experience with:

  • 3D Studio Max or other high end 3d software
  • Photoshop or other paint software (illustration and photo-manipulation)

Proven ability in:

  • creating high quality low poly 3D models following exact specifications
  • applying 2d textures to geometry
  • creating original, convincing textures for models

Preferred Attributes

Pandemic Studios Australia is looking for Designer focusing on setting up, configuring and placing the audio for our next game. We plan on outdoing our UK and US chart topper Destroy All Humans! – and you can be a part of the design team.

Skills Required:

  • Ability to deal with both the configuration of and quality of audio assets
  • Desire to make the best game audio in the business
  • Ability to take direction and accept critical review of your work
  • Passion for and broad knowledge of console games with an ability to critically analyse them
  • Excellent communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Use proprietary world building, configuration files and scripting tools to place and configure audio assets – sound effects, VO & music
  • Ability to balance technical, performance and quality issues for all sound assets
  • Work and contribute in an open design environment – we want designers that contribute to all areas of the game design not trained monkeys that sit in a corner
  • Work within and communicate with a large team – you’ll be working with designers, audio programmers and audio asset creators to pull the auditory experience together into a cool in-game soundscape.
