Half Life 2 Tonight

The net is abuzz right now with gamers all over the world eagerly awaiting the world-wide unlocking of Half Life 2 via the Steam network. Lift-off is scheduled for 12 midnight US pacific time, which is 7pm in Sydney/Melbourne (DST), 6pm in Brisbane.

Long live Gordon Freeman!

it took me about 4 hours to activate after id installed it. the halflife server was extremely overloaded although im only on dialup.

Looks like the load was heavy for people who bought normal retail versions. I had it preloaded via Steam and it was ready to play within 5 minutes of release (ie. by 7:05 pm Sydney time)

I’ll just add, this game is as mind-blowing as I’d hoped. What an amazing piece of work… PC gaming is far from over :)
