Half Life 2 Tech Demo

There aren’t many people looking forward to this game finally shipping more than me, and not just because it’s arguably the first real leap forward in game engine technology since Quake. HL mod Counter-Strike seems to have lost a bit of excitement for the teenage smack talking, l33t-speaking, power-gaming script kiddies and lots of them are making their way to MMORPGs. You may or may not know it, but that’s a genuine gaming crisis for those who actually enjoy those games. Luckily HL2 continues to shape up to be something spectacular, as this source engine demo shows (121MB), though they need to wind down the shine a bit on some of their shaders. Now bring on CS 2 and save us.

Woooo weeee. This demo is good but hmm, wasn’t really worth 121MB. Shows of a few nice fx but nothing extraordinary, mainly the bumpmaps showing off nice glare on roofs etc.
