Actually quite a few of those involved in the project are experienced game developers, so hopefully it will have both politics AND gameplay!!

I don't think it's necessarily unfortunate that a game may be politically motivated. Political movies have been around for decades, surely games are an worthy platform for such expression? (pardon the pun)

In any case, the screenshot looks uniquely Australian...

Yeah, some in the local industry thought it was time to exercise their collective muscle and try something a little different. Maybe they're bored from years spent making games for the EB bargain bin or something...

Check out the website that's just gone up (the server appears to be flakey at the moment tho)

I'm writing an article on 'videogames as an artform' for SMH's icon supplement. Can anyone put me in touch with local wriers of 'arty' games? (I do realise that any good game is artistic)

When you say "Arty" games.. What do you mean? "High Concept", "Controversial" or "Low Budget, made at home title that will never be published"?

Games that are clearly made with the purpose of expressing something (eg; an idea, feeling, politic) and convey this through their artistic elements. Could be a commercial release like REZ, could be an independently made game patch... Escape F W is a good example!
