EVE Online Gold

Crowd Control Productions (CCP) announced today that EVE Online: The Second Genesis is gold and have lifted the NDA surrounding it’s BETA.

I sure hope they’ve added something to do. I played the beta for a short time and while it was beautiful and obviously had a lot to do once you had money, there was nothing to do for a newbie other than mine asteroids.

The developer in me loves the professionalism and design of the game, the gamer in me was quickly bored — but it was only BETA and from what I’ve gathered there is/was much more content to come before release.

So has anyone been able to find out the Australian release-date yet? Nobody seems to know…8(

Despite dying to play this game for a while now, this is the worst news that could possibly come out about eve so far.. I’m in the beta.. and it’s just not ready for release yet. =(

It is so buggy at the moment, and the lag is intollerable.. takes 4 or 5 seconds for your ship to respond to commands, there’s frequent "Warps" as you fly along, where you end up back a few thousand kilometers from where you just were etc…

I know I won’t be paying money for this on release.. it’s got a lot of work to do to pull me away from EQ (which also has bugs.. but nothing like what eve has). I can only hope that the beta code we are on atm is inferior to the gold candidate code.

Have they abandoned that ridiculous idea about giving game currency a real dollar value? I hope so - it bordered on the dcwnright irresponsible.

That wasn’t EVE Weeping.. that was Project Entropia.. and no, that project hasn’t dropped the idea.
