MCO:And it was Over
I recently recieved this in my email box from EA. To all of those who have made a persona with the false hope that this game would be an online mainstay, my heart goes out to you.
“We need to tell you about some upcoming changes to Motor City Online. After a fun run of over a year of online racing, Electronic Arts has made the decision to close Motor City Online in order to focus resources on future games.
Starting August 29, 2003, Motor City Online will no longer be in service. Your subscription billing will end on July 16, 2003 and no accounts will be billed after that date. You may continue to play the game up until the closure date, although certain community programs will begin to be closed down starting in March. ”
As a consolation prize all those who played MCO (up until now) will either recieve a free copy of “the sims online” or “ultima online”. Whatever they choose.
