Gamecube title price drop
Most people who frequent multiple computer games stores will have noticed a major price drop in the games that are being released for Gamecube. Titles are now available in four different price brackets. $30 will get you Rogue Squadron, $40 will get cell damage. $50 will get you early EA titles (SSX etc). $70 will get you recent release titles (TY, Medal of Honour). $90 will get you everything else. If you are paying more then $90 then you are paying too much.
Whilst on the subject, anyone who watched SEGA decline would surely be sadened by Nintendo’s poor showing in most retailers. With most retailers barely cracking it for 50 percent of available titles. I don’t usually give a thumbs up to a retailer, but in Brisbane city the best selection I found was at the Mr Toys “Games Clearance” in the Myer Centre. EB and other retailers are deserting the old warhorse. Perhaps it is time for Nintendo to open a series of stores around Australia, or smarten up there marketing campaign and push their products harder to retailers.

To put this into some sort of perpective.
According to a story on news.com.au a while back:
“Inform figures show retailers sold 5846 GameCubes in the three weeks to December 31, compared with 84,477 Sony PlayStation 2 units and 45,939 Xboxes.”
As for game prices, if you ever pay more than $89 for a new release console game you need your head examined, every week those junk mail catalogues from places like Kmart, Big W and target usually have a page dedicated to game specials that takes about 10 seconds to peruse before dumping in the bin (DVD specials too!). Then there’s the (usually bi-monthly) Kmart 15% off sales which often translates to $82 on most games, and Target every few months will do something like 20% off games (though they’re usually higher than Kmart to start). And you can often get recent big name PC titles from these places too.
