Best of 2002

‘Tis the season for Best Of compilations, and Gamespot have chimed in with their annual huge compendium, as have the inimitable Penny Arcade. Could it be that the Gamecube will become another Nintendo 64 - the very best games, but few and far between ? Any votes out there from BigKidders ? Rez would have to top out my list - an absolute blast to play, classic mix of graphics and sound, and reinvigorated my gaming passion in 2002.

Perhaps each member of Big Kid should rank the games they BOUGHT this year from 100 to 1.. Geez I bought one ever 2 weeks or so.. And some of them were stinkers, some where surprises and some where just what I wanted.

Just a suggestion I was thinking of compiling an article over the coming weeks and posting it on Australia Day.

Anyone else wanting to do the same thing??

I might as well get the ball rolling. I’ve stuck to games I played for more than a rental period which usually weeds out the shitty games, hence the mostly high scores (and the huge grin on my dial).

Couldn’t be arsed playing for more than 10 minutes: Super Monkey Ball, Sonic 2. Kelly Slater, Giants,
Hunter the Reckoning, Prisoner of War,

Totally agree with Metal Gear Solid 2, that was the highlight for mine. Not sure if it was released last year but Ico was also a gem.

Played plenty of good solid games on PC like Jedi Knight, Mafia, Wolfenstein, MOH, GP4, but nothing i’d really compare to classics like Deus Ex, Op Flashpoint etc.

Should mention Morrowind which I was blown away by at first and poured a stack of time into. Just a pity it was ultimately flawed by being too easy for any reasonably advanced character.
