Burnout 2, PS2 Exclusive
Unfortunate news for those with Gamecubes and Xbox’s that enjoyed the original Burnout. The politics of this decision are far reaching I am sure. But one thing is for certain, every review I read for Gamecube noted a marked advance in handling and graphical out put by the team at Criterion/Renderware. In an interview in Cube Magazine when the original game was released on the GCN the producers mentioned that they thought the Gamecube was the better console and preferred to work on that. But..
Planet Xbox/ Planet Nintendo
I’m sure the developer did not have the final say about what console the game would be appearing on. Up until today there have been previews for Both Xbox and Gamecube versions, these previews are all FALSE. As Acclaim have noted that they had never been slated for develoipment. This really hangs an axe over the integrity of the sites that first displayed these previews. At the same time EB, Nintendo and other major sites had reported the sequel, and I believe that they would have gotten their information direct from publishers. So what I’d like to know is, who LIED about this in the first place?
Anyhow onto a FLUFF piece. Acclaim is making and effort to scare people with their marketing. The Marketing for this game in the UK was extraordinary. It was released in the UK on the 11th of October, and anyone caught on speed camera that day, in that region, can have their fines paid by Acclaim. I urge everyone to do that, just to see if it hits Acclaims HIP POCKET.
**Also of note is the fact that other then Nintendo games “Burnout” was the only other release title to hit #1 in sales according to my local KMART.
