Warcraft 3 Collector’s Edition

Just a few days away now, July 3rd Warcraft 3 hits the shelves, and for those willing to pay for it, the Collector’s Edition looks to be something of a treat. With Collector’s Editions of other games generally incoporating a fancy box and maybe a poster or t-shirt inside, Blizzard is bucking the trend and taking ideas started with the Diablo 2 CE to the next level.

This is what you get if you pony up for the CE:

The Art of Warcraft. A high-quality concept art book from BradyGames featuring rare and never-before-seen images from the Warcraft universe. Art from every stage of game development will be included, from early concepts to finished pieces, along with behind-the-scenes commentary from the Blizzard development team.

The official Warcraft III Cinematic DVD including complete Warcraft III in-game cinematics, digitally remastered in widescreen format for television viewing. Exclusive special-features content includes concept art, storyboards, original cinematic trailers, and audio commentary from the Blizzard cinematics team.

Also included are the Warcraft III Soundtrack CD, a Commemorative Collector’s Edition Manual signed by the Warcraft III development team, and four Limited Edition 8 x 10 Prints featuring rich artwork portraying battle-hardened veterans from each of Warcraft III’s races.

Not bad eh? Mind you, in bucking the trend with the CE’s content, it’s also going to cost you $159.95. Probably not worth it for anyone who isn’t a die-hard Blizzard strategy fan. Me however…well, I’ve pre-ordered two ;)

Whether this is valid in Australia or not, but apparently if you pre-order through EB you also get a bonus DVD with the cinematic trailers for War3 and the WoW trailer. Yet to confirm this with a local EB tho…

I’m fairly confident I know where my pay’s going this week. *grinz*

And the big question is will it be available on the 3rd of july ?Remember what happened to D2:LOD 2 weeks later.

This is true.

I pre-ordered WC3:CE at my local EB in Ballarat, and received the DVD.

It’s not too shabby, but I’m hanging for the DVD that comes in the box :)
