Console Self Respect

The Sydney Morning Herald has an quick summary of the current console wars, including this exchange:

The GameCube is a gay console,” stormed one Xbox fan, Stinky, in reference to Nintendo’s new machine. “The Xbox is for real men.”

J. Alexander Panic, a Nintendo fan, replied: “You’re a homophobic moron so insecure with your own sexuality that you are actually embarrassed to own a console with good games if it doesn’t have enough explosions and blood.”

Padre - apparently a Playstation2 supporter - had his own theory about the Xbox’s disappointing sales outside the US: “The Xbox is only really popular in trailer parks … them hicks love it! There’s obviously more trailer parks in the US than in Japan and Europe, so that explains the sales figures.”

Bit of a worry when people start defining their sexuality and class based on the console they own…maybe that should be our next survey :-)
