Game$pot
Long surviving gaming supersite Gamespot have decided that to survive in the non.dot.com era they will need to start charging for a premium service. For US$19.95/year you get no pop-ups, so called ‘high speed downloads’ (not much help at the end of a slow speed connection) and, more ominously, “complete access to all of our content”. They promise that the freebie ‘critical content’ will still be available, but none the less it’s a far cry from the good old days.

When ign did this, half the content got put into the “premium” section and it looks like gamespot is doing the same. Pretty much anything older than 7 days is going to go into the premium section
What this means is any reviews and previews (which is pretty much all the site is good for) will be for paid up members only after 7 days… looks like I’ll be going to gamespy.com instead now…
If you read between the lines, its even worse. Notice they put “no pop-ups” in the benefits… looks like more of those for the standard viewer
But they say you’ll still be able to get all the cheat codes… ooooohhh, that makes it all right then
