Sony Announces Linux for PlayStation(R)2

Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc. has announced the release of a version of free operating system Linux for PlayStation 2 console. The release is targeted toward the Linux development community in North America and is designed as a hobbyist development environment. Users will be able to use their PS2s to create and run applications written for the Linux operating system. The company expects the kit to sell for about $199 USD when it is made available in May 2002 exclusively through its website, Playstation.com
