GTA3 coming to a PC….soon’ish

This was posted over at Gamespot earlier today.

Take-Two Interactive has revealed that it will soon release a PC version of Grand Theft Auto III, its popular action game that was first released on the Sony PlayStation 2 in October. Although the publisher has not specified a date for the PC game’s release, online retailers are estimating the game will ship in mid-April.

No doubt it will be banned in Australia as well unless steps are taken to ensure that the Australian version is different to the general release. Well at least most gamers will get the opportunity to enjoy the glory that is Grand Theft Auto 3.

For those of you that don’t own a reasonable PC or a PS2, rumors have been flying around everywhere that GTA3 will be coming out on both the GCN and the Xbox as well. It most certainly is possible considering the popularity of the franchise and how well GTA3 has been received thus far.

News of GTA3 for PC being released in April has been floating about for a while already now… but anyway, Take 2 in Australia DO have it listed… so that’s a good start!

In regards to the PS2 GTA3, I hear that a “less offensive” version will be released in Australia early Feburary… and that is the word straight from Take 2 Australia.

So I guess if they are going to that length for the PS2 version, I am sure releasing an “edited” PC version as well will not be too much trouble… and depending on what exactly they change, the PC has the advantage of little known things such as cracks and patches! :-)

Also something to think about is whether or not “State of Emergency” will need to be “cut back” or whether or not it’s suitable for Australian audiences. Just a thought.

Personally I’m glad I have my copy of GTA3 in all it’s uncensored glory.
