Telstra Lobbies Against Breakup
A positive increase to Telstra’s debt rating has executives stepping up to lobby the federal government against any breakup of the telco. CFO David Moffat has said that the improved rating indicates that Telstra’s success comes from its “fully integrated telco model”.
Some MP’s in Canberra are in favour of a split between Telstra’s wholesale infrastructure and its retail services. Given Telstra’s extremely poor record with retail customer satisfaction it’s hardly surprising that execs are not in favour.
