EverQuest Optimized for P4
In a move that has rather disturbing marketing implications, Intel and Sony have announced Everquest will be optimized for Pentium 4 processors. A press release issued for Monday and dripping with PR schmooze quotes Sony Online marketing vice president Scott McDaniel saying that a Pentium 4 processor based system is “the ideal EverQuest gaming platform, giving gamers the speed and fluidity they want.”
“Working with Intel will allow us to deliver the best possible online experience for today’s gamer,” [he] said. “Gamers are a savvy group of people, always looking for new games and equipment. Through programming teamwork and expertise we are able to significantly enhance the gaming experience for Intel Pentium 4 owners.”
The ironic thing is AMD processors are not only faster, they give more performance per MHz, and are much cheaper, making them the chip of choice for “savvy” gamers.

I fail to see what optimising EQ for P4 will do.. I’ve seen what optimising it for DX8 turned out like.
Even if it is optimised, the servers will be down anyhow lol.
