Xbox lands down under March 14 2002

Microsoft have finally announced a launch date for the Xbox in Australia. Apparently they’ll ship 100,000 units down under over the first three months from March 14 next year. Expected RRP is AUD$649.

The number one reason I’m dissapointed it’s going to be so long is that means they’ll probably delay the PC release of Halo till at least May next year. The Xbox seems nifty enough but I haven’t bought a PS2 yet and am doubtful I’ll outlay the cash for an Xbox either. Not till we start seeing games like DAoC released for it and a world zone mod for it’s DVD feature will I be truly tempted. Its HDTV output and AC3 capability are the features that have me most interested as it means it would fit nicely in to a Home Theatre.

What a comercial backwater we have become…..5 MONTHS after US release. Geez. I bet they have the Xbox in Antartica before us.

I suppose its not all bad. Hopefully, that will give us some time to see the reviews of all the xbox games, and see through the MS hype.
