Telstra International Cable Cut

If you have been suffering awful lag through your Telstra Bigpond connection, you’re not alone. At about 1.30pm Australian EST on Thursday, a cable between China and the US which carries the bulk of Testra’s net traffic was cut, reducing international capacity to about one third. China Telecom has dispatched a barge to repair the break, but there is no indication as to how long this will take so things are unlikely to improve in the near future. Just another reason to be glad you’re with Optus (if you are). Those of us who aren’t have to cop it sweet. Aus broadband community site Whirlpool has the latest.
