Game Delays
A number of games have had their release dates delayed for various reasons, a few to do with certain buildings no longer being entirely upright. Most notable is Twisted Metal Black, a title that showed a lot of promise earlier this year at E3 and was to be one of the first games released to take advantage of the PS2 modem - not that that means a great deal to us in Australia.
The game’s content is said to be in poor taste in light of the WTC bombing. Also delayed for similar reasons were Smugglers Run 2 and Grand Theft Auto 3, which contained references to New York City and (oddly enough) Afghanistan. The games will now be released in the latter-half of October.
Publisher of both those games, Take 2 Interactive has also announced that due to the time required to alter the content of those games, the PS2 port of Max Payne will now be arriving first quarter next year and not in time for Christmas as was originally planned.
The Red Alert 2 expansion “Yuri’s Revenge” has been delayed due to box art changes which depicted the WTC buildings being blown up, though rumour has it that a mission in the game involves you either defending or blowing up the towers depending on which side you’re fighting for so the changes are largely cosmetic. The game will now be appearing on the 15th of October.
Finally, Madden 2002 has been pushed back to the 10th of October. I am going to assume that this has little to do with world affairs though.
