Terrorists Attacks On US
If you have somehow come here before hearing the news, terrorist attacks have leveled the World Trade Centre in New York, and a portion of the Pentagon in Washington. Hijacked commercial airplanes were flown directly into both of the twin towers, both of which collapsed about 90 minutes later, and the Pentagon.
There have been about 800 deaths from the Pentagon crash, no figures have come out of New York yet apart from roughly 200 Firemen who were working to clear the area when the towers collapsed. There are also 78 missing Police officers.
For coverage I suggest any television station, or CNN, or even Slashdot. Local site QGL also has a fair few links.
IRC channels are bursting with (mis) information and various levels of sanity regarding the attacks. Nothing can be said, it’s just a very sad day.
*Update* The number of total deaths so far is 1300 which includes passengers on the hijacked flights. Two people have been rescued from the rubble in New York, but the number of fatalities is expected to rise dramatically.
