Payneful Dialogue

This week’s GameSpin column (on GameSpy) looks at the writing in Remedy’s Max Payne and grills 3D Realms’ Scott Miller over it because they think it’s, well, crap basically. Scott Miller is of the opinion that the writing style fits the game, while Mark Asher (writer of said column) insists that they’ve missed the target.

In the end you’re really left to make up your own mind, but Miller saying that it is unfair to compare the writing to novels or movies is laughable: bad writing is bad writing Scotty, regardless of the medium.

In other 3D Realms news, Duke Nukem Forever has been bumped from Take Two Interactive’s Q4 release schedule and is currently on a “vague 2002″ list of titles. If anyone is still hanging for this game I’d appreciate it if you’d drop me a line and explain why - I lost interest quite some time ago.

Here here! Two years ago I would have camped out to buy a Duke sequel, but in 2002.. what’s the point!?

update [monty]
I’m with Bruce and Splash on this. Duke 3D was the best 2D/3D shooter I played. Even as a hard core fan, DNF passed it’s interest window 18 months ago.
