Galactic Battlegrounds Preview
GameSpot have a preview up today of Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds, an RTS that is utilising the Age of Empires engine. The preview covers a variety of aspects of the game - being a preview that’s what it does best, but it does sound promising - much more like a game in it’s own right, rather than a glorified mod which is what I wrote it off as to begin with.
It still crunch time for LucasArts though. Having failed to have a hit since 1997’s Jedi Knight, taking a hit like Age of Empires and putting a Star Wars-spin on it certainly seems like a last ditch attempt. If they cannot stem the tide even with the help of Ensemble well…who knows where then for a studio that used to be one of, if not the most respected dev house in the world?
