Gore Update
Joel Huenink from 4DRulers sends word that Oz/US FPS Gore has been undergoing a fairly major upgrade since release of the demo a few months ago. New modellers and mappers have been brought on board and the game’s AMP engine now supports dynamic lighting and trigger volumes:
The engine … looks incredible. It also boasts a wide range of trigger volumes such as damage, sound, kill, gravity, suction, teleports, air lifts, jump pads and more. The designers should be able to come up with some very interesting gameplay twists, like meat grinders, low gravity space zones, suction tubes, gas chambers and other things. Mostly we’ve been updating models to take full advantage of the shaders and lighting. Gore’s textures have also undergone a massive update, taking on a more vivid, brighter appearance. We’ve upped the polygon budget of characters to around 3000, and some of the weapons are now weighing in at over 1400 polygons after multipass texturing.
Other changes are allowing the team to keep the game “blazingly fast”, and churn out models and levels four times faster than before. Three screenshots from the new build are up on the 4DRulers site.
