THQ to Set up Regional HQ in Victoria
Just received this from Tim Richards at WAP Sites:
Global games company THQ, responsible for The Simpsons and Rugrats, has agreed to establish an Asia-Pacific headquarters in Melbourne.
The Victorian Premier Steve Bracks made the announced while in Los Angeles yesterday, stating the company would invest over $10 million in the headquarters over the next five years, creating new employment and business opportunities for the games industry. THQ is seeking to use the headquarters to grow its business in Asia, New Zealand, and Latin America.
The Victorian Government has been keen to promote the Victorian games industry since releasing its game industry development strategy called “Game Plan”, in November last year. Mr Bracks said the Victorian Government had identified computer games as a high priority. THQ specialises in the development, publication and distribution of interactive entertainment software for Playstation, Nintendo, Game Boy and personal computers.
Thanks very much to Tim for that.
