Republic: The Revolution

This game has been in development for quite a while now - I remember rob first mentioning it after seeing it on the cover of Edge late 1999. It looks like they’re continuing to deliver on everything they initially promised, and this interview with Demis Hassabis tentaitvely touches on things like multiplayer capabilities, the MOD community, licencing the ‘Totality Engine’ while dismissing the suggestion that Republic will be little more than a dark version of Sim City:

Superficially there might seem to be some similarities, but these are only skin deep. Republic is a fully-fledged strategy game based on top of a realistic and rich simulation. Both of those Maxis games are straight simulations really. Also whilst Sim City is about the macro environment and the Sims is all about the micro environment, Republic gives the player access to both levels of play.
