The Incredible Expanding Hard-Drive
A Japanese newspaper is reporting that Sony, after it launches it’s 40 gig HD next month in Japan, will release upgraded drives annualy with more disk space.
Traditionally, gaming peripherals have a horrendously bad time on retail shelves, even the number of house holds that own a second controller for a console is well below 50%. While this ploy may work in the more tech-savvy Japanese market, it’s hard to see Australian consumers shelling out for a bigger hard drive each year (it’s hard enough to keep my PC up to scratch).
In other PS2 peripheral news, earlier this year Square cancelled a special edition 2 DVD set of Final Fantasy 10, but it has been replaced with a package being called “Final Fantasy X: Beat Shock Edition“. The package includes a copy of the game, an amplifier and a booklet to go with the…the thing. RRP is US$137, but don’t expect to see it on the shelves of your local EB, this will be import only if anyone even manages to get it into the country.
