Camille Scaysbrook Interview
Our favourite Geek Girl (and not just because she gives us plugs in her interviews) has been interviewed on a new Australia site, IT Skills Hub. In the interview she talks about the concept of being a geek in today’s world, women working in IT, what she did before taking an interest in game design and what she hopes the future holds for gaming. Go along and check out one of the more interesting people working in game development today.
What are your aspirations for the future?
I would really like to see games become more visceral, more intellectual. I was having a conversation not so long ago with the CEO of an independent games company and we both agreed on the fact that game narrative is in a pretty lousy state.
It would be so wonderful to see a game come out that has the narrative and intellectual complexity that we often see in today’s movies, such as `Magnolia’, `Pulp Fiction’ and `Go’. I’d like to see the game industry go further than it is currently going, to push the boundaries and take the limits off itself - to regain the sense of potential that it lost in the mid 90s.
