High-Tech Games

Gamespot has an interesting article up on games currently in development (or have just been released) that are seeking to push the technological envelope. While developers sing the praises of the new technology, it deals largely with the way the games look and only a handful in here (Black & White, Relic Entertainment’s Sigma, Neverwinter Nights & Liquid’s Battle Realms) seem to be implementing technology that will actually enhance the gameplay. I could be proven wrong, though more importantly, I hope I am.

There is also a small “2002 and beyond” section which lists Doom 3, Team Fortress 2 and Unreal 2 as the future of gaming. Say it isn’t so…
