Soldier of Fortune 2 Announced
Its existence has been known about for a while, never the less it only just got officially announced today, and so to co-incide with said announcement, GameSpot have a preview up of the sequel to one of the more questionable games in recent memory.
I’m all for an immersive game experience, but in a medium where the primary attraction is escapism, you have to wonder when a game’s realism became a benchmark for quality. In most reports I read, the violence portrayed in the original Soldier of Fortune served as a cover, hiding the fact that the title had a weak game dynamic.
With a SoF2 preview that reads “When we first started talking to John [Mullins], we realized that there was a lot we could do with him, and really, [the original] Soldier of Fortune barely touched on all his experiences” you can only wonder how convincing the “cover” will be this time around.
