Gore G400 Problems

If you’re the owner of a Matrox G400 card, you’re out of luck where Gore is concerned. It seems the infamous Matrox OpenGL ICD isn’t up to scratch and as a result won’t run the demo properly. I shot off a quick email to Scott at Eyecon in the hope of a workaround, but received this reply:

No, the G400 is not fully GL compliant so it has problems. There is no work around for it at the moment.

I’ve managed to get it going, but without textures. It’s playable if you don’t mind not having all the prettiness. There are full particle effects, if that’s any consolation. You will also have to navigate empty menu screens and edit the config manually, if like me, your system didn’t like the Q3A config import wizard during installation.

On a separate note, the Gore demo has already been downloaded at least 70,000 times since Saturday morning - and that’s a conservative figure. Well done to the guys at Eyecon, Slam Software, and 4DRulers.
