On Hard Drive Copy Protection

IHateApple.com (you’ve got to love that domain name) has posted a letter from a member of the committee working on ATA specifications addressing the proposed HDD copy protection issue. What the big players in hardware are trying to do is install a set of standards that will stop people from saving recognised copywritten material to their hard drives. I kid you not - they are going to limit what you can save to a hard drive. Can you smell the giant publisher monies driving this? Worth a read.
