John Romero Interview
Stomped have another end-of-year interview up today, this time with Ion Storm co-founder John Romero. Again talking about that which has been and that which is to come, Romero is sticking to his new line of not saying anything about what he is working on, but is generally optimistic about the future:
Stomped: What, in your opinion, was the single most encouraging trend in gaming that appeared this year and why?
Romero: It was nice to see, recently, that everyone is not panicking and leaving the PC in the dust so they can develop for the PS2. The PC has always been here and always will — it’s not going away and there’s lots of developers who want to keep developing the kind of games that can only be developed on a PC. It’s nice to develop for the huge console market as well, so it’s great that it exists and is an available option. I’m look forward to developing a console-only title sometime, but have no plans right now.
