Freelancer Cancelled?
Last week reports were circulating on the net indicating that Chris Roberts had been removed from Digital Anvil. The company, which he had co-founded with his brother Erin was developing a massively-multiplayer title called Freelancer, designed to be a free-roaming space adventure.
Today, AVault is reporting that along with Chris being shown the door, his brother Erin and the producer of the up-coming Loose Cannon, Tony Zurovec have left with him. If this wasn’t enough they are also stating that what Chris envisioned in Freelancer is not possible with current PC technology and has either been cancelled or is being scaled back considerably so as to not resemble the original game that wowed the press back at E3 ‘99.
