Oddworld Off To The X-Box

Well it doesn’t get much bigger than this. Several sites are reporting this morning that Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee, formerly planned as a launch title for the Playstation 2, has jumped aboard the X-Box. No official comment is out yet from Sony, Microsoft or Oddworld Inhabitants.

At this year’s E3, Oddworld Inhabitants were fairly vocal about their frustrations with the PS2 hardware, but nobody could have forseen them ditching the company that got them started and high-tailing it to the X-Box. The Oddworld games were some of the most loved and successful titles that the Playstation saw.

The fact that we won’t be seeing Munch’s Oddysee on the PS2 is simply the latest in a series of blows for Sony’s next-gen system, with previous hits coming from Konami’s decision to port Metal Gear Solid 2 to the X-Box and several other developers that were exclusively working for Sony have since broadened their horizons.

With the US launch of the PS2 just two days away, it’s almost enough to make me feel sorry for them…almost.
