Telstra Updates Cable Network

Telstra is updating its cable network with a move to the DOCSIS standard for cable modems. This will allow for other brands of modems to be used other than the Motorolas they are currently distributing. (The newer Optus@Home cable network already uses this standard, although they also only offer one brand of cable modem) Telstra have also announced the planned expansion of the BigPond cable network to Perth & Adelaide in 2001.
