Baldurs Gate 2 Teaser
Rob and I have both started playing sequel to last year’s best RPG Baldur’s Gate 2 and after only several hours of play I can recommend it. Rob, our hardcore RPG fanatic, is completely hooked. Almost everything has been improved from the first game. There are more classes, and now kits to those classes (I have taken an Archer which is a Ranger kit and a wicked bowman). The higher 800x600 resolution actually increases the screen size rather than the detail and things can get a little small on a 15″ monitor, but should look nice on larger screens. Spell effects are now 3D accelerated (unless you have a Matrox card like Rob, in which case they will produce bad graphic glitches), voice overs are excellent, and the plot is highly addictive. Computer RPGs have not reached the level of pen and paper games - though Pool of Radiance is going to come close I think - but BG2 is as good as it gets.
