Elite Force Plug
I downloaded the Elite Force demo quite a few weeks ago and it had been sitting on my desktop waiting to be installed since then. Last night I was in the mood for something new (after an all-night Quake 1 LAN the night before) so I spent an hour or so playing through the demo. Now I know Rob said something about the game when the demo was first released, but I am so impressed I have to add my view - and I’m not a Trekky either.
EF looks and sounds fantastic. It looks at least as good as Q3A - which is not surprising as that is the engine it is based upon - and is silky smooth at 1024 resolution on my Celeron 525/TNT2/128Meg system. The story telling, voice overs, menu system, and feel of the game are all superlative. The problem solving is a bit basic (find the right terminal, click on it; find the right door to go through), but maybe the full game will be more challenging. EF is due out very soon and after tasting the demo it is one game I won’t be missing.
