2GHz Pentium 4

Intel displayed a working 2GHz Pentium 4 chip at its Developer Forum in California this week, claiming it will power the world’s fastest desktop processor when it ships. The envisaged system may use a 400MHz version of the troubled Rambus Direct RAM. Intel also announced a 1GHz P3 Xeon chip for servers, and a 500MHz P3 notebook chip with a power consumption of 850 milliwatts. Now watch those P3 prices drop.
