Gnome Attacks Windows
A number of high profile companies and top computer hardware vendors have joined forces to make the Linux graphical interface Gnome a viable alternative to Windows. Compaq, Hewlett-Packard, IBM, and Sun Microsystems will all offer Linux systems using Gnome as a standard interface. The new systems will eventually gain access to Sun’s StarOffice desktop applications suite, which will give Microsoft’s Office some serious competition.
It looks as if Linux if finally coming into the mainstream. Now all we need is for gaming software and hardware companies to provide default out of the box and driver support for Linux - then we gamers will have a realistic alternative to Windows.
