AMD 1GHz Lock Up Bug
A bug causing system crashes has been discovered in computers recently released with the 1GHz Thunderbird Athlon chips. The cause of the problem has yet to be determined, though Gateway executives say the chip is probably not to blame but rather other system components. Shipment of the company’s Thunderbird systems has been suspended until July 10 as a result of the flaw. Industy analysts say the accelerating speed battle between AMD and Intel may have resulted in technology being released prematurely while still unstable.
