Shafted LAN
Australian computer gaming organisation “Shafted LAN” are hosting their
9th large-scale online multiplayer event “The Motorola Shafted 9″ at LaTrobe
University this Saturday. Games played at the event use interfacing with
basic networking protocols to allow two or more people to play either with
or against each other, making it possible to have over 100 people playing
WITHIN the same game.
Shafted
LAN have procured a massive network setup to serve the event, along with
dedicated match servers and tournament scorekeeping boxes. Players bring
their own PC’s, and are allocated an IP address (instead of a seat number)
on arrival.
The most popular games will be played such as Half-Life (Counterstrike), Quake 1
to 3, Unreal Tournament, Starsiege Tribes, and other real-time strategy
games.
