Wireless & GPS Revolution
An article up on CNN talks about the potential boom in wireless advertising now that the military has unscrambled GPS. Now that your mobile can tell exactly where you are advertisers will be able to offer you goods and services based on your exact location.
“It’s a bit of a marketer’s wet dream,” says Kyle Shannon, cofounder of Agency.com, an Internet marketing consulting firm. The idea, Shannon says, is that “someone who uses a [wireless] data network is going to respond to an ad that gives him a coupon to buy a Coke from a machine as he walks by it.”
Hehe, why is Coke always the first example people think of when they mention marketing-gone-mad?
